Before founding Giovanni Pezzino Architects, Giovanni Pezzino spent more than two decades inside larger practices, working on buildings whose scale and complexity demanded that design intent survive every stage of delivery. That experience is the foundation of how the studio works today.
2003 – 2013 · Zyscovich Architects
Learning the whole width of a project
Giovanni's ten years at Zyscovich Architects moved across design, production and construction administration — the full width of a project rather than a single specialism. The work spanned high-rise residential, hotel condominium, historic structures and educational buildings, including the Miami Dade College Student Activities Center in Downtown Miami.
Working across all three disciplines taught him what a purely design-side career cannot: how a drawing behaves once it becomes a building.
Nine years · Project Architect, Stantec
Complexity, scale and collaboration
As Project Architect at Stantec, Giovanni worked on Jade Signature in Sunny Isles Beach — 1.2 million square feet, 57 storeys, 192 residences — where Herzog & de Meuron served as Design Architect and Stantec as Executive Architect.
The project demanded technical resolution at every level, including deep-soil-mix ground improvement and a three-level below-grade garage on a coastal site. Delivering a building of that ambition meant coordinating consultants continuously and protecting the design idea through thousands of technical decisions.
From design through completion
What the studio inherited
Giovanni carried Jade Signature from schematic design through construction documents and construction administration, serving as a full-time on-site representative through completion in 2017. Few architects follow a building of that scale from the first drawing to the finished facade.
That continuity is what Giovanni Pezzino Architects is built on. The studio reads a project in terms of how it will actually be built — proportion, material and detail resolved with an understanding of construction reality rather than in spite of it.
